The worst part about the protracted contract talks that came to an end for Kirby Fabien Sunday was a feeling the 22-year-old offensive lineman never wanted to experience. He could take the criticism about staying to play last year for the University of Calgary after leaving the impression he was going to sign with the B.C. Lions. He had no misgivings about a brief tryout fling with the NFL’s New York Giants last month when it seemed obvious he was always destined for the CFL.
